The timber paneling, charming wooden door handles and details characteristic of the Californian bungalow came to life while creating the brief for this project. The house was in ‘original’ condition, the interior spaces were dark and the layout created an inward focus. In its favour the covered entrance porch accessed a hallway that provided a spacious connection to all the main rooms. The new addition incorporates open-plan living, dining and kitchen with direct access to a deck, outdoor room and the north-facing garden. These new rooms are linked to the main body of the house with glass sliding doors and an extended hallway from the main entrance.
